NPC launches demographic and health survey.

The National Population Commission has launched National Demographic and Health Survey (NDHS) as it concerns households in the Nasarawa State. The Chairman, NPC’s Eze Duruiheoma who represented the Federal Commissioner, Alhaji Zakari Umaru disclosed this while launching the Dissemination, Demographic and Health Survey (DHS) held at Ibrahim Abacha Youth Centre, Lafia. Eze said the standard DHS survey have large sample sizes between 5, 000 and 30, 000 households and are typically conducted about every 5 years to allow comparison over time in the State.  He added that the demographic and Health Survey programme has collected, analyzed and disseminates accurate representative data through survey in over 90 countries in which Nigeria is among, stressing that NPC also conducted NDHS in 1999, 2003 and 2008. Duruiheoma explained that, the 2013 Nigeria Demographic and Health Survey is the fourth of its kind to be implemented by the NPC in the country, adding that the Commission is charged with the responsibility of collecting, collating and as well as to analyzing demographic data that the Commission has been unrelated in its efforts to provide reliable, accurate and up to date data in the country.
