UMUAHIA (FIC’ Report)- The Abia State Government has recently inaugurated the State’s Scholarship Board in Umuahia, naming Prof. Samuel Igwe as the Board Chairman and Mr. John Adiele, the Secretary .
While Inaugurating the Board, the State Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu said that he was confident that the Board was capable of bringing innovations that would make the Board function well. He said that the Board members were painstakingly selected to drive the agenda of providing relief to education, especially to indigent Abia children, who find it difficult
to pay school fees.
The Governor, who stated that Abia State Scholarship Board is the flagship Board of his administration, assured the Board members that government would support them to achieve their mandate.
In his acceptance speech, the Chairman of the Board, Prof. Samuel Igwe appreciated the Governor for appointing them and pledged to do their best in achieving the mandate of the Board.
He maintained that no nation can develop without formal education and informed that the members would introduce Peer Support Initiative which would help them raise funds to support the Board.
