Allocate Bakassi Housing Estate to Internally Displaced Person (IDP’s) says Akpabio.

The Minster of Niger Delta Affairs Hon. Godswill Akpabio, has directed the officials of the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs in charge of the Bakassi Housing Estate, to allocate the Houses to indigenes, who are majorly in the Internally Displaced Persons Camp in Bakassi, Cross Rivers State.

He stated this, during a courtesy visit to the Executive Governor of the State, Ben Ayade (Sen.) in Government House, Calabar, Cross River State.

The Minister noted that the Bakassi Housing project of the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs is over 98% complete, hence should be allocated to the indigenes, especially those in the Internally Displaced Camps, adding that President Buhari’s Administration is sensitive to the yearnings of the poor and that his mission, in the Niger Delta Ministry is to fast track development of the region and hasten empowerment of the people.

Akpabio therefore commended the Community for holding forth the Estate and for preventing it against vandalisation by unscrupulous elements, adding that the Housing Estate of over 34 Units should be cleaned up and ready for habitation in earnest.

He also inspected the Housing Estate in Ikot Ekpene, Akwa-Ibom State, which according to him, had an ideal location and as such part of the building can be utilized as Staff Quarters for Police, Corrections Services, Polytechnic or converted to a small and medium scale industry, adding that the industry will provide jobs for the unemployed youths /women of the Community.

Other projects monitored include, the 6.55km Atinmo Akpabuyo road project in Calabar, Cassava Processing Plant, Mbak Atai and Computer Training Centre, both of Itu Local Government Area of Akwa-Ibom.
