The Honourable Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Chief Akin Sunday Dare, has urged the Batch ‘A’ Stream 1 Corps Members to be good patriots and ambassadors of the Nigerian project as they engage in various activities at their respective primary place of assignments during their one year mandatory service to the nation.

The Minister, who was in company of one of his friends who served together 30 years ago at the NYSC FCT Orientation Camp, Dr. Ezra Yakuzah, stated that the NYSC as an enduring national institution demonstrates government’s commitment to building the future of Nigerian Youths for national growth and development.

Chief Dare made this illustration at a colourful and glamorous passing-out-parade/closing ceremony of the 2021 Batch ‘A’ Stream 1 Orientation Course, today in Abuja.

The Minister said: “I charged you to go forth to your different places of primary assignment and put the country first; the community you serve first; whether you are posted to the urban centres or the remote villages, the call to service is the same: I urge you to imbibe the culture of service and impact on the communities, societies and companies where you serve. I urge you to build networks even during the service year that will endure but also to ensure that at the end of the service year, you can look back, do a review and come to terms with yourself that it’s been a fruitful year.”

While declaring the closure of the camp, the Minister prayed for God’s adequate protection and good health upon every Corps member as they travel from one part of the country to another throughout their service year and beyond.

In his earlier remarks, the NYSC FCT Co-ordinator, Alhaji Suleman Abdul appreciated the Honourable Minister of Youth and Sports Development for his show of commitment, support at all times and love to the National Youth Corps scheme.

He stated that from the commencement of the orientation course till date; there was no major challenge especially with regards to the health of any corps members. He appraised and commended the Corps members’ good manners of behaviour with high sense of patriotism and commitment throughout their orientation course in the camp.
