As part of the activities to commemorate the 2022 Civil Service Week, Federal Ministry of Health (FMoH), on Wednesday, 22nd June, 2022 held it’s maiden Ministerial Award Ceremony to honor and reward outstanding members of staff.

The event which took place at the Ministry’s Conference Room in Abuja was meant to spur the Awardees to perform better and to encourage other members of staff to put in more efforts in discharging their duties.

Speaking at the epoch making event, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mahmuda Mamman, who was ably represented by the Director Hospital Services, Dr. Adebimpe Adebiyi, noted that the event was first of it’s kind in the history of the Ministry.

According to the Permanent Secretary, “this is about the first time I am seeing this in my over three decades in the Federal Ministry of Health.

“We have had a couple of Award Ceremonies but not the Public Service Award.”FMoH Holds Maiden Ministerial Award Ceremony

Highlight of the occasion was the recognition and presentation of Award of Excellence to three members of staff.

The awardees were drawn from the directorate level, middle-level and lower level cadre.

For the Directorate level, Director, Family Health, Dr Salma Anas Ibrahim Kolo bagged the award while, Mr Oluwafemi Stephen (Principal Scientific Officer) and Mr Jonathan Babe (Clerical Officer) got the ones for Middle and Junior levels respectively.

While commending the Awardees, Mahmuda said they should consider themselves highly favoured and charged them to work harder as according to him “the reward for hard work is more work”.

Earlier, the Director Human Resource Management Department, Mr. Sallau Hassan expressed his profound gratitude to the Permanent Secretary for the initiative and for making it a reality.

He explained that due process was observed in the selection of the awardees.

“In arriving at this stage, there have been various stages that had to be crossed but let me assure that the selection process as prescribed by the Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation, was strictly adhered to” he said.FMoH Holds Maiden Ministerial Award Ceremony
