The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs. Winifred Ekanem Oyo-Ita, has identified dedication to duty and patriotism as essential tools to achieving a result oriented civil service.

She made the observation in Abuja today, during a send-off reception in honour of a Deputy Director in her office, Mrs. Rebecca Ayuba Kadafa, who retired from service after attaining both 35years of active service and 60years of age.

The Head of Service extolled Mrs. Kadafa for being the embodiment of loyalty, diligence, commitment and dedication to duty, during her service years. Adding that, she was a stickler for punctuality, with a knack for good quality work, as well as being an efficient and effective manager of resources.

The Head of Service said the reception was a way of saying thank you to the retiring officer, for her selfless service and to serve as a morale booster for upcoming officers. She congratulated Mrs. Kadafa, for her successful retirement and prayed God Almighty to keep her healthy, in her post service life.

Mrs. Oyo-Ita, further enjoined Civil Servants whom she described as the engine room of the government, to be alive to their responsibilities and put the interest of the nation above any personal desire.

Speaking earlier, the Permanent Secretary of the Ecological Fund, Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Dr. Habiba Muda Lawal, Permanent Secretary, Carrier Management Office (CMO) Mr. Innocent Ogbonnaya and Permanent Secretary, Service Policy and Strategy Office (SPSO) Mrs. Nuratu Batagarawa, both in the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, poured encomiums on Mrs. Kadafa, saying that her unalloyed humility, discipline and dedication to duty will be missed, not only by the top management of the service, but most importantly her subordinates.

Responding, Mrs. Kadafa thanked the Head of Service, Permanent Secretaries and other staff in her office for the send-off reception held in her honour and assured of her total loyalty to the Federal Civil Service and Government of Nigeria, even after retirement.
