The Minister of Defence, Major General Bahir Salihi Magashi has advised Nigerian children to persevere in hard work, patience and good behavior as they face challenges of growing up.
Gen. Magashi gave the advice in a chat with children from D-Pride International School during the production of a Television series for kids titled “Our World” in Ship House, Garki, Abuja.
The Minister remarked that the growing up moment among children is characterised by complexities and challenges due to factors which include modernity and its consequences on social status as well as explosion of population around the world.
He said children can keep the hope of Nigeria alive by exhibiting good character, keeping good company and respecting constituted authority as well as observing ideal family norms and values.
Gen. Magashi pointed out that the Federal Government is proud of children and young Nigerians within and outside the country who have ventured into innovation, winning accolades and raising the dignity of the nation in the eyes of the world.
Discussions in the programme covered the Minister’s life history, educational pursuits, his military career and legacies as well as the role of the Nigerian Armed Forces in defending the territorial integrity of the country.
“Our World” is a 30 minutes Educational Television Show for Nigerian Children audience featuring States and Regions in Nigeria with emphasis on Knowledge, Arts, moral values, creativity and innovation.
This edition of ”Our World” on the Minster of Defence, was anchored by the pupils of D-Pride International Schools, Area 8, Garki, Abuja and is being produced for broadcast by an independent producer, Mrs. Comfort Okoronkwo.
The producer had told the Minister that the programme is aimed at exposing children to higher national responsibilities by engaging actors at the federal and state levels in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere to produce a programme to be aired for the children.
