Farmers in Edo state have lauded Mr Godwin Obaseki- led administration for the expansion of the state’s Agripreneur Programme to cover Piggery, Poultry, Cassava and Oil palm production in more locations across the state.
Some farmers who spoke with news men in Benin City disclosed that the gesture of the state Government will lead to the sustenance of the state’s Agripreneur Scheme designed to boost food security and create wealth for the farmers in the state.
One of the farmers who is into livestock production, Mr Harrison Ojehomon disclosed that 2020 holds huge prospects for farmers in the state.
Mrs. Victoria Umaru, who is into fish farming disclosed that she has decided to add piggery to her business so as to enjoy the support of the Edo state government. She opined that if local farmers are supported with credit facilities and other incentives, they can create more job opportunities to complement the government’s job creation drive.
Another farmer, Mr Williams Osazee disclosed that local oil palm farmers in Edo South are ready to utilize the opportunity provided by Governor Godwin Obaseki to boost oil palm production in the state. “We are organizing ourselves as groups to take the opportunities provided by the state government. We have the local capacity to make huge gains from the plans.” He added.
