Education Dev.: Defence Minister Magashi, Conferred With Fellowship Award by CIEPUK

The Minister of Defence, Maj Gen Bashir Salihi Magashi (rtd) has assured the Chartered Institute of Educational Practitioners of the United Kingdom (CIEPUK) of effective collaboration with Nigeria in the development of education as it relates to Military schools.

The Minister said this when he was conferred with an Honorary Fellowship Award by the Institute in Ship House, Abuja.

The award is in recognition of the Minister’s position and the role played in the development of education through Military Institutions Nationwide.

While accepting the Honorary Fellowship Award, Gen Magashi commended the Chartered Institute of Educational Practitioners, of the United Kingdom (CIEPUK) for its successes and achievements in transforming the education sector for the benefit of Humanity.

“The honor conferred on me is an opportunity availed to share experiences towards harnessing our teeming youths which will in turn guarantee better future leaders for the country.” He remarked.

He expressed solemn affirmation to the mandate of the institute and the commitment to faithfully discharge the responsibilities required of a Fellow.

The Regional Director for Africa and President of CIEPUK, Professor Marcel Ezenwoye remarked that President Muhammadu Buhari has recorded milestone achievements in the education sector and as such, CIEPUK is willing to positively collaborate with the Nigerian Government in reducing illiteracy and unemployment in the country.

He pointed out that the Institute is one of the largest professional bodies duly registered and accredited in the United Kingdom that is dedicated to promotion of quality education and to nurturing talents at all levels in the UK and beyond.

Professor Ezenwoye noted that the theme for this year’s conference is “Innovative Teaching Strategies which is meant to enrich Academic Knowledge, Skills and Experience.”

He added that CIEPUK wants to support the Nigerian Government in raising the bar in instituting high educational standard as well as attaining high Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in Nigeria.

High point of the event was the decoration of the Minister with the Academic Gown and regalia of the Institute by the African Regional Director, being assisted by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Defence, Musa Istifanus.

In a post investiture interview the Permanent Secretary Musa Istifanus, congratulated the Minister for being awarded Fellowship of the Chartered Institute of Educational Practitioners of the United Kingdom (CIEPUK).
