Episcopal Ordination: ABSG hails Catholic Church Over Support

Abia State Governor, Dr Okezie lkpeazu has commended the cordial relationship and synergy existing between the Catholic Church in Umuahia Diocese and the State Government.

Dr. Ikpeazu who made the commendation during the 30th Episcopal Ordination Anniversary of the Most Rev Lucius Iwejuru Ugorji as the second Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Umuahia and Priestly Ordination of six deacons to the Priesthood held at the Mater Dei Cathedral reassured that the present Government under his watch will continue to count on the Bishop’s support and cooperation in its efforts to deliver good governance to the people of the State.

The Governor represented by his Deputy Sir Ude Oko Chukwu congratulated Bishop Lucius Ugorji on the celebration of his 30th Episcopal Ordination Anniversary which is replete with landmark achievements in the spiritual and physical growth and development of the Diocese, adding that the face and fortunes of the Diocese have significantly changed for the better to the Glory of God.

He prayed God to continue to strengthen him as he positively and successfully live out his Priestly calling to God’s glory and salvation of mankind.

In his homily, the Catholic Bishop of Umuahia, the Most Rev, Dr. Lucius Ugorji who charged the six newly ordained priests to be Eucharistic in their Priestly journey by always uniting themselves in prayers with God as their source of power, renewal and rediscovering of their new phase with Christ and desist from pursing their personal ambitious but to go the extra mile in their service to Christ and the church.

Bishop Ugorji used the service to thank God for the strength, Grace and wisdom granted them to serve this past 3 decades as Bishop and further appreciated his parents for the exemplary life and upbringing given to him as well as the presbyterium and legions of the Umuahia Diocese for the wonderful support and cooperation extended to him for the past three decades and prayed God to bless them.

Presenting the address of the Clergy, Religious and Laity of Umuahia Diocese, The Rev Father Austin Obi while listing the tremendous transformations witnessed since the Ordination of the Most Rev Dr Lucius Ugorji as a Bishop 30 years ago of Episcopal Ministry in the Umuahia Catholic Diocese through his unyielding leadership and missionary visions which has continued to set the Diocese on the way forward, prayed God to continue to make him a vessel of honour in his Priestly calling.

Those ordained priests include, the Rev Emmanuel Nkemjika Uzoigwe, Rev Steven Nwaneri ldika, Rev Father lgwe, Magnus Chidiebere, Rev Bonaventure Odoemenam, Rev
Emmanuel Ugochukwu Okoro and Rev Amaechi Jude Chukwuemeka.

The service which witnessed the presentation of gifts to the Bishop Ugorji by the various departments of the Umuahia Catholic Diocese attracted the presence of the wife of the Deputy Governor, Lady Vivian Oko Chukwu, members of the State Executive Council, top Govt officials, the Clergy and other distinguished personalities.
