The Ecological Project Office (EPO) has embarked on the sensitization of residents of Ogbomoso community as it hands over the project site to the Contractor.
Speaking during the event which took place at Adebayo Idowu Sunday Dare Road by 1004 Theatre Road junction, the Permanent Secretary of Ecological Project Office (EPO), Dr. Habiba Lawal, represented by Dr. Joel O. Oruche, Director, Press and Public Relations Unit called for peace and cooperation with the Contractor to ensure quality job and timely delivery of the project within the scheduled period of twelve (12) months.
Dr. Lawal stated that the event was to flag off the project approved by Mr. President and sensitize the community to cooperate and support the Contractor. He pointed out that the sensitization was aimed at building bridges of understanding between EPO, Contractors and Host community with a view to resolving issues that may hinder the progress of work.
She advised the host community of the need to shun rancor, violence and conspiracy, extortion and conspiracy against contractors and by extension the Federal Government as no project would be executed in any community that is notorious for harassing contractors. She therefore urged the people to protect and sustain the project so that the resources which the federal Government has committed would be gainfully utilized and will not be in vain.
Dr Habiba assured the community that the Contractor would engage some of her youths in the execution of the project.
The Minister of Youth and sports Development, Chief Sunday Dare who facilitated the project to Ogbomoso said the roads to be worked on were Adebayose Idowu-Dare street, Olusegun Obasanjo way,1004 Theatre road, R.Bello road and Munsir Ibrahim crescent..
Chief Dare however appealed to the people of the host community to cooperate with the contractor to make the project a success.
Speaking on behalf of Ogbomoso Community, the Are Ago, High Chief Samuel Shobalaje pledged the readiness of the Ogbomoso community to support the project.
The project which consists of 3,950meter (three thousand nine hundred and fifty metres) road improvement work, will also have drainage control.
The Contractor promised to complete the project within the specified period with the required specification and good quality standard.
Guests were entertained by local musicians who came en-masse to appreciate Federal Government’s benevolence to the community.
In attendance were Traditional Chiefs of Ogbomoso land, men/women groups and youths who pledged their support for the contractor. Also present at the event were Senior Officers from EPO, Contractors, Consultants and members of the Press.
The event featured signing of project document by all stakeholders and inspection of the proposed project sites.
