Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Malam Muhammad Musa Bello has commended the Federal Housing Authority (FHA) over the agency’s contributions to the development of the housing sector in the Federal Capital Territory and across the country.

The FCT Minister made this commendation, when a delegation from the FHA, led by its Managing Director, Senator Gbenga Ashafa, paid a courtesy visit recently.

Malam Bello said some of the most notable housing projects in the FCT today owe their existence to the efforts and contributions of the FHA.

He specifically mentioned the Federal Housing Authority Estates in Maitama, Asokoro, Lugbe and most notably Gwarimpa, which he said are the success stories of the partnership between the FCT Administration and the FHA in the FCT.

According to the Minister, “What your predecessors and my predecessors have jointly done together to bring to fruition, the FHA Estate in Maitama, FHA Estate in Asokoro, FHA at Lugbe and of course, the largest estate in Africa, FHA Gwarimpa, is something that we are all very proud of.”

The Minister also appreciated the working relationship between the FCT Administration and the FHA which he said has been very mutually beneficial, especially to the residents of the FCT.

He therefore pledged the commitment of the FCT Administration to continue to partner with the FHA to ensure the completion of other ongoing housing projects as well as the introduction of new ones in the future.

Earlier in his remarks, the Managing Director of FHA, Senator Gbenga Ashafa, appreciated the enormous support that the FHA has received from the FCT Administration over the years.

He explained that the FHA and the FCTA are currently working to address issues of infrastructure development across FCT and other issues of titling, development control and the restoration of the Abuja masterplan.

In the words of the Managing Director, “The reasons we are zeroing in on these four are not far- fetched. This Administration must endeavour to leave a legacy that generations yet unborn will be remembering, pointing to the fact that we came, we saw and we delivered and we were able to bring security, prosperity as well as hope to the people”.

Also present at the event were the Executive Secretary of the FCDA, Engr Umar Gambo Jibrin, the Executive Director, Business Development of the FHA Hon. Abdulmumin Jibrin and other senior officials of the FCTA and FHA.
