The Permanent Secretary, Budget and National Planning, Mrs. Olusola Idowu, has assured that the Federal Government, through the Ministry of Finance, Budget and National Planning, is desirous and committed to coordinating the implementation of the National Integrated Infrastructure Master Plan (NIIMP).

Mrs. Idowu gave this assurance while declaring open the First quarter, 2020 Coordination forum of the Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) on Infrastructure Delivery, holding in Abuja, today.

In her speech, she regretted the fact that effective delivery of infrastructure in Nigeria has been hindered by weak capacity, insufficient and unreliable data; ineffective system of information coordination, harmonization and stock keeping, as well as weak monitoring and evaluation processes.

The Permanent Secretary stated that the Forum is important, as it will ensure an effective system of information coordination and harmonization of the NIIMP implementation. She also stated that the meeting will be expected to come out with suggestions on how to track on quarterly basis, the progress and to review the performance of the MDAs against set targets in their strategic sectoral plans viz-a viz the plans and budget implementation.

She therefore charged the Forum to come up with mechanisms that would help to ensure the implementation of the recommendations arising from the meeting as it is expected that the outcome of the forum would go a long way to contribute to government’s policy drive on infrastructure development.

Welcoming participants to the meeting earlier, the Director, Department of Infrastructure, Federal Ministry of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Architect Isa Halidu, stressed the aim of the gathering which is to build synergy among core and non-core infrastructure MDAs in order to enhance infrastructure delivery in the country, amongst others.
