The Minister of Water Resources, Engr. Suleiman Adamu on Tuesday 22nd May, 2018 visited Gombe State to commission and inspect water supply scheme projects that will address water shortages and improve the socio-economic lives of the people of the State.
During the commissioning and handing over of the Soil Erosion Control and Road Improvement Works at Yalenguruza, Gombe State, Adamu said “the successful completion of this project would enhance improvement in the socio-economic lives of the people .
The project is one of the twenty six ecological intervention projects across the six geopolitical zones of the federation which was executed by the Federal Government through the Ecological Fund Office for the benefit of the teeming population of Yalenguruza town and it’s environs.
The Minister inspected the completed Kwami, Gadam and Bojude Water Supply Scheme designed to serve the three communities and environs aimed to provide sustainable potable water and reduce the incidence cases of water related diseases.
Adamu urged the people to take ownership and guard the project to ensure it’s maintenance and sustainability.
The Governor of Gombe State, Alhaji Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo who received the Minister during a courtesy visit to Government House thanked the Federal Government for the various interventions in the water sector in his state.
He pledged his readiness to partner with Federal Government to bring more water supply schemes which will attract Investments and development in Gombe State.
Earlier, Engr Adamu noted that the just concluded World Bank study shows that there is a drastic decline in water supply in Nigeria and as such, the Federal Government has put in place concrete intervention action plans to curtail the problems associated with water supply and sanitation.
The Emir of Gombe, Alhaji Shehu Abubakar thanked the Federal Government for the provision of potable water in his domain.
The Minister also inspected the Dadin Kowa Hydropower Dam project in Gombe State.
