The Nigerian Government has recently commissioned and handed over the erosion / flood control and road improvement works at Yalenguruza in Gombe State.
The Minister of Water Resources, Suleiman Adamu Kazaure during the commissioning on behalf of the President handed over the completed project, expressing delight for the completion of the project. He explained that the present Administration is keeping faith with its promise of fairness. Adding, no part of the country will suffer any neglect in the distribution of the dividends of democracy and projects, irrespective of geographical location or political consideration.
While handing over the certificate to the Gombe State Government, the Minister reiterated the present Administration’s determination to lay a solid foundation for development, highlighting Nigeria’s quest for a virile and prosperous nation on the path of unfettered economic development. He further noted that the regime’s determination is to continue with the implementation of all genuine government’s policies, agreements and contracts made by the previous administrations a national and international levels.
The Permanent Secretary in the Ecological Fund Office, Habiba Lawal in her welcome speech expressed gratitude to the Yalenguruza Community for their cooperation with the contractor, which facilitated the successful completion of the project. She stated that Yalenguruza Community had previously been living in fear of erosion and flood disasters which resulted in the collapse of the access link road.
Present at the event was the representative of the Governor of the State, Hajia Sahadatu Sa’ad, who is the Commissioner for Environment. She received the hand-over certificate, accompanied by the State Commissioner for Water Resources, who was on ground to welcome the Minister and his entourage.
It would be recalled that Yerunguruza project is one of those projects approved by President Muhammadu Buhari for contract award and was executed through the Ecological Fund Office in the Office of the secretary to the Government of the Federation in 2017.
