The Federal Government has reiterated its commitment in the training and re-training of Civil Servants as part of efforttowards repositioning the Nigerian Civil Service for better service delivery.

The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs. Winifred Oyo-Ita stated this at a 2-Day Training Programme organized by the Learning and Development Department, Office of Head of Service of the Federation, for Protocol Officers in Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs). The training was held on 28thand 29th November, 2018 at Public Service Institute of Nigeria, Abuja.

The Head of Service represented by Director overseeing Office of Permanent Secretary, Career Management Office, Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs. Anne Attah, said that the training programme is designed to update and equip protocol officers with the requisite skills and knowledge required to discharge their duties in accordance with global practices.

Oyo-Ita stated that the quest to achieve the goal of training and re-training of the workforce in the Civil Service informed the inclusion of the Re-design & Re-launch 3 Core –Training Modules as one of the eight priority areas in the 2017-2020 Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan. The move is geared towards improving staff competencies and skills through well targeted programmes across all grade levels.
She therefore enjoined the participants to take advantage of the training programme to get acquainted with new trend in protocol procedures that will enhance their efficiency and productivity.

Earlier, the Executive Director, Nolkin Consulting and facilitator of the training programme, Ambassador Akin Oyateru, thanked the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation for availing him the opportunity to impact the knowledge he has gained in the service on the Civil Servants through the training programme, noting that he was a beneficiary of such training in the service.

The protocol officers (70) who participated in the training were drawn from different Ministries, Departments and Agencies.
