The Federal Government of Nigeria has reiterated its unflinching support for grassroots development in Karu Local Government Council, of Nasarawa State.

The Permanent Secretary, Special Duties, Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF), Engr. Festus Y.N. Daudu, gave this assurance during a courtesy call on him by the Chairman of Karu Local Government Council, Honourable Akala Samuel Gajere.

Daudu, while enumerating the functions and activities of the Special Duties Office, pledged to collaborate and support the Local Government by ensuring that basic infrastructure are situated in the council, bearing in mind, its proximity to the Federal Capital Territory.

According to him, “I am aware that Karu Local Government Council accommodates over 60% of the workforce of the FCT, which makes the available amenities to be overstretched. I will do my best within my capability to see that the impact of Abuja is felt by Karu and Nasarawa State as a whole.”

Engr. Daudu while appreciating the visit, prayed that the tenure of the Chairman and his executives will bring transformation in the Local Government. He also prayed for God’s guidance in the Chairman’s piloting of the affairs of the Local Government and hoped that at the end of the Chairman’s tenure in office, he will leave the office better than he met it. The Chairman Karu Local Government Hon. Akala Gajere, earlier congratulated the Permanent Secretary on his new appointment and also noted that President Muhammadu Buhari, will have no regret appointing him as he had the capability to deliver on the task before him.
He decried that despite Karu’s proximity to the Federal Capital Territory, there are no visible social amenities being enjoyed by the people of Karu. He observed that with the daily influx of people to the FCT, the little facilities available are overstretched. He therefore solicited for partnership with the Special Duties Office for the provision of social services that will be felt by the people of Karu.

In the same vein, he appealed for the deployment of internet facilities to the Local Government Secretariat for easy communication and data generation.
The Chairman was accompanied on his visit by Hon. Awaje Malam Agara Speaker Karu Legislative Arm, Hon. Dachor Secretary Karu LG, Hon. Simon Bwaje Iyakwi Councillor Karu Ward amongst other Council executives.
