FG Set to Check Counterfeit HP Products in Pubic Offices

ABUJA (Min of Communication Report) – In its quest to manage public funds and check the menace of counterfeit products in public offices, the Federal Government has revealed that it will embark on general survey of
her HP computers and toners.

The Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Communications, Mr. Musa Istifanus, stated this during a meeting between the Management Staff of the Ministry  and a delegation of HP Computer Manufacturers Company in Abuja, recently.

The Permanent Secretary, who was represented by the Director, ICT Department, Mrs. Monilola Udoh, described the rate at which counterfeit products flood the country, as worrisome. She assured that the Ministry would take the lead to survey all HP computers in MDAs and also, partner HP computer manufacturers, to procure only genuine products for maximum output.

He charged the company to intensify enlightenment campaigns and workshops to educate consumers on the indicators for identifying fake products and their implications on the economy; and also put up a workshop for all Procurement Directors in the MDAs to sensitize them on the negative effects of counterfeit products.

The Manager, HP Company, Emmanuel Eze,  said in a remark that the company is determined to provide consumers, satisfaction, having put in place certain control measures, such as buying the products through authorized distributors and retailers, monitoring their activities, while enlightening the beneficiaries on how to avoid counterfeit products.

The meeting was aimed at addressing the increasing rate of counterfeit HP products in the Nigerian market with the view to addressing the menace so that the Federal Government and unsuspecting consumers do not lose their hard earned money to buy fake products that would not stand the test of time after they were purchased.
