The Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development has said that it is committed to training 36,000 youth on Digital Skill Acquisition.

The Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Mr. Sunday Dare, who disclosed this today at the Moshood Abiola Staduim, Abuja said that the youth need digital skills to pursue a career path in technology.

According to him, ‘technology is an enabler and there are over one thousand digital programmes, and we want to ensure that the digital training will focus on relevant skills that will make our youths employable”

“The Ministry’s initiative, DEEL ensures that the youth get digital education, and we have worthy partners in the past, but the partnership we entered with TECH4DEV and Microsoft today, comes with a big bang. The Nation has massive youth population, so training just one thousand youth will mean nothing, which is why we need partners” he said.

Earlier, the Permanent Secretary, Engr. Nebeolisa Anako, in his welcome remarks, assured that the Ministry will continue to support the implementation of the policy and programmes of the President Muhammadu Buhari Administration, especially in the area of skill acquisition and youth empowerment.

The Executive Director, TECH4DEV, Mrs Oladiwura Oladepo expressed optimism that the training will provide youths with opportunities to acquire relevant skills that will make them employable and self-dependent.
