FMIC Information Communication Technology Department Trains Staff on WordPress Web Management, Content Optimization

ABUJA – (FMIC Web Content Management Report) – The Information Communication Technology (ICT) Department of the Federal Ministry of Information and Culture has organised a two-day training workshop on WordPress Web Management, Content Optimization and Security for members of staff.

The event which held at De-Mandoli Hotel and Suites, Keffi Nassarawa State recently, featured the skills development of all staff in the ICT Department, involving Information Officers, Technical Officers and Administrative Officers.

While presenting the welcome address at the occasion, the Permanent Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Information and Culture, Mrs Lydia Shehu Jafiya who was represented by the Director of ICT, Mrs. Comfort Ajiboye welcomed the participants and encouraged them to participate actively in the workshop, so as to achieve the aims and objectives of the programme.

The Permanent Secretary added that the training workshop was in line with the directive from the Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF) to all MDAs to go paperless and digitize all work processes as one of the key pillars of the 2021 – 2025 Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan (FCSSIP25).

The training Facilitator, Mr. Oluwasegun Oderinde of WebCreative Nigeria, in his presentation hinted that WordPress, its contents and management protocols include: Login, Dashboard, Posts, Media, Pages, Comments, Site Contents, Adding New Posts, Inserting Image, Image Gallery, Adding Content with Blocks, Adding HTML Links, Categories and Tags.

He also drilled the session on Optimization and WordPress security, indicating that the programme was germane towards building the capacity of Officers in the ICT Department of the Federal Ministry of Information and Culture on how to generate, edit, send and upload news stories, press releases and reports on Government Policies, Programmes and Activities. He mentioned that the interaction process was targetted at instructing desk officers on how to monitor feedback on the various platforms.

The facilitator emphasized that the key objective of the training session was to expose the participants to various aspects of WordPress, Content Management, Optimization and Security.

The Assistant Director of the ICT Department, Federal Ministry of Information and Culture, Mr. John Nchu Ogar in his vote of thanks appreciated the Permanent Secretary and the Management of the Ministry on behalf of the participants for the opportunity offered to the staff to participate in the training workshop. He further stated that the impacted knowledge will be put to good use to foster Governments’ vision and mission for the Ministry.
