FMIC InfoTech – Web Management Unit Completes News Reporting Skills Training for Freshers

ABUJA – (Information & Culture Ministry Report) – Four fresh Information Officers in the Web Content Management Unit of the Information Technology Department in the Federal Ministry of Information & Culture have successfully completed a two-week professional in-house training on the prospects of news writing and reporting.

The workshop conducted between June 25th and July 11th, 2018 and facilitated by the news editor of the fmic.gov.ng website, Nchu Ogar exposed participants to the rudiments of news writing and reporting, media practice principles, news sourcing and evaluation, basic photography as well as blogging, civic journalism and ethics.

While congratulating the participants at the end of the workshop, the facilitator lauded them for the expertise, interest and dedication exhibited during the training sessions towards acquiring knowledge and proficiency. He tasked them to be up and doing in their news reporting duties and to contribute optimally to the dissemination of veritable government information to Nigerian publics.

In expressing their joy and fulfilment for the new skills, the participants espoused appreciation to the Director of the Information Technology Department in the Federal Ministry of Information & Culture, Mrs Comfort Ajiboye for the opportunity offered to them to imbibe the most desirable news reporting skills. They also mentioned that the training was quite educative, insightful and very informative.”

“We are grateful and hope to do the best in utilising our newly got skills to enhance our duties, support the activities of the IT Department and enable the Ministry to grow in its daily functions,” they said.
