FRSC organises the Ember month Road Safety Campaign

The Commissioner for Transport Abia state, Chief Godswill Nwanoruo says government is to checkmate the sale of alcholic drinks at various motor parks in the state in order to reduce the rate of road crashes.
Chief Nwanoruo stated this during the Ember month road safety campaign organized by the Federal Road Safety Corps Abia State Command in Umuahia.
He noted that most crashes that occur were as a result of alcholic inducement on the side of drivers.
The Transport Commissioner advised Motorists to always ensure that they obey all traffic rules and regulations while on the road.
He , however, promised to partner FRSC in its efforts to reduce road crashes to barest minimum.
The Sector Commander Federal Road Safety Corps , Abia State, Mr Meshach Jatau said that the Corps has in the last eleven months recorded seventy nine road crashes in the state out of which forty four persons lost their lives and three hundred fifty two sustained various degrees of injuries.
He listed some of the causes of road crashes to include dangerous and reckless driving, driving under the influence of alcoholic, use of worn-out tyres and over loading of vehicles.
The Vice Chairman Drivers Welfare Association , Abia State, Mr Ejike Ogbonnaya commended the FRSC for organizing the program and pledged their support towards ensuring safety on the road.
There was a free medical BP check on people during the occasion by the Corps.
