The Permanent Secretary Federal Ministry of Information and Culture, Mrs. Lydia Shehu Jafiya mni has said hosting Management Retreat will boost performance and domestication of Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan FCSSIP 2021-2025 in the Ministry. She stated this at the 2023 Management Retreat held at City Green Hotel Yola, Adamawa State.

The retreat with the theme: The New Civil Service: Domesticating FCSSIP25 in Federal Ministry of Information and Culture for Management staff featured all Directors of the Ministry with Resources Persons drawn from specialized areas of Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan 2021-2025 (FCSSIP25), Performance Management System (PMS), IPPIS, Budget Process and Financing amongst others.

In her opening address, the Permanent Secretary said the core objective of this Retreat is to brainstorm and synergize on strategic mechanisms for the positioning of improved workforce and professionalism at various levels under strict monitoring for efficient and effective deliverables of our statutory mandates.

She noted that the Federal Civil Service has gone through a lot of reforms in the past for better performance and prompt service delivery such as SERVICOM, MILLENNIUM DEVELOPMENT GOALS (MDGs) now SDGS, PENCOM, amongst others. Some of the reforms were embraced and adhered to, till date while some were of little or no effect.

The Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation recently introduced FCSSIP25 (Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plans 2021-2025) as a new reform into the mainstream of Federal Civil Service to break away from the old model to a new paradigm of productive, result-driven, world-class Federal Civil Service to attain accelerated National Development. FCSSIP25 was developed through multi-stakeholder consultations and it focuses on six (6) priority areas as conveyor/catalyst for the institutionalization of Performance-Based Culture and Reward System.

Mrs. Shehu Jafiya mni reiterated that ICT will be given priority while also upholding staff welfare stating that she will be eager to see that our Ministry is enlisted as one of the quick implementers of this initiative.

She urged the Directors to ensure that all hands are on deck towards the realization of Federal Civil Service of our dream, citing the Ministry as good driver of government policy and of our motto: “Change Begins With Me”.
