Ikpeazu attends Burial of the Late Mother of Sir G. C. Onyedilefu at Nvosi, Isiala Ngwa South LGA

FIC Report (Abia State) – The remains of Late Mrs. Rose Echuwaonuka Ahuwa Onyendilefu, mother of Chief Gabriel Onyendilefu has been laid to rest in her husband’s compound in Umuwaochi, Nvosi, Isialangwa South Local Government Area.

Speaking during the burial ceremony held at Ikem Primary School Field, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu described the deceased as a great woman, who worked hard to train her children to become responsible Citizens.

Governor Ikpeazu said that to live in the hearts of those one loves is not to die and encouraged the bereaved family to emulate the virtues of their late mother.

He urged Sir Onyendilefu and his siblings to bear the loss with fortitude.

In a funeral oration, the first son of the family and former Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Chief Gabriel Onyendilefu described their mother as an embodiment of humility and forthrightness and a devout Christian of the Anglican Church, whose outspokenness, sincerity and courageousness were unparalleled.

Chief Onyendilefu, who is also a former Accountant General of the State regretted that their mother would be sorely missed, thanked Governor Okezie Ikpeazu and other Guests for coming to identify with them at the period of their grief and prayed God to bless them.

Earlier in his Sermon, the Bishop, Diocese of Isiala Ngwa, Rt. Rev. Dr. Temple Nwaogu stressed the need for the living to amend their lives and build a good relationship with God.

Rt. Rev. Nwaogu who said that death is inevitable, irrespective of one’s position in the society maintained that anyone who dies without Christ would end in hell fire.

He described the deceased as a peaceful woman who would be missed by all and enjoined the bereaved family to take solace in God.

Aged 81 years, Late Mrs. Rose Onyendilefu was survived by 8 children while the burial ceremony attracted the presence of many dignitaries including the Senator representing Abia Central zone, Chief T. A Orji and his wife, former Deputy Governor of Abia State, Chief Acho Nwakanma, Member representing Isiala Ngwa North and South at the House of Representatives , Hon. Darlington Nwokocha, Member representing Isiala Ngwa North State Constituency, Hon. Ginger Onwusibe, Hon. Commissioners, PDP State Chairman, Rt. Hon. Asiforo Okere, Elder John Nwangborogwu, Members of Abia State Traditional Rulers Council.

The Archbishop of the Aba Anglican Province and Bishop of Isiala Ngwa South Diocese,The Most Revd. Dr Isaac Nwaobia led a delegation of the Clergy which included the retired Archbishop of Aba, Most Rev Dr. Ugochukwu Uwaoma Ezuoke (Rtd), Bishop of Aba Ngwa North Diocese, The Rt. Rev Nathan Kanu, Bishop of Umuahia Diocese, The Rt. Rev Geoffrey Ibeabuchi and a host of other Men of God.
