Ikpeazu Hands Over 10 Hectares of Land for the Building of Federal Fire Service Training School in Umuahia

Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has handed over land allocation papers covering about 10 hectares of land to the Federal Fire Service for the building of Training Centre for fire fighters in the South-East

Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu handed over the allocation papers while receiving in audience, a delegation from the Federal Fire Service led by the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Interior, Barr. Georgnia Ehuria at Government House Umuahia.
He said that the allocation of land came with her earlier request for a parcel of land and assured that his government would do everything possible to give the needed assistance to enable the Agency succeed as well as engage in further collaborations.

The Governor, represented by the Deputy, Sir Ude Oko Chukwu said the State leveraged on its areas of comparative advantage, especially the SME to promote the ‘can do spirit’ of the average Abia man and championed Made in Abia and Made in Nigeria products, thereby empowering its citizens.

The State Chief Executive thanked President Buhari for his decision to establish the South East Training Centre for fire fighters in Abia State.
He appreciated the Abia born Federal Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior, Barr. Georgnia Ehuria for her contributions to that effect.

In her speech, the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Interior said that the establishment of the Fire Service Training School Umuahia is part of the next level agenda of the Federal government to realize safety of lives especially in the major markets in the country including Aba.

Earlier, the Controller General of the Federal Fire Service, Dr. Ibrahim Liman stressed that the Federal government has approved the establishment of Fire Service South- East Training School in Umuahia and requested land for building the school as well as temporary accommodation for immediate take off of the program.
According to him, the school would offer training for the professional development of fire fighters in the five States in the South-East

He stressed the need for the Federal Fire Service to partner with the Abia State Government in order to minimize the threat of uncontrollable fire to lives and property adding that the need to sustain this effort cannot be over- emphasized in view of the state of fire outbreaks and other related threats to the States in recent past

Dr. Liman commended the policies the Governor has put in place especially, in the areas of agriculture, commerce and industry to strengthen the economic base of State and congratulated him on his reelection, saying that his victory is a confirmation that the people of the State are pleased with his style of leadership
