The Ag. Registrar, Environmental Health Officers Registration Council of Nigeria (EHORECON) Dr. Baba Yakubu Mohammed has called on Ministries, Agencies and other tiers of government to collectively key into achieving the target of being open defecation free between now and 2025.

The Registrar stated this at the commemoration of the year 2020 World Toilet Day in Abuja with the theme: “Sustainable Sanitation And Climate Change”.

Dr. Baba reminded the media that the issue of Sanitation, constitutionally lies with the local government while he posited that the Federal Ministry of Environment is providing the necessary leadership so that it will inter-activate the participation of other tiers of government.

According to the EHORECON boss, the Honorable Minister of Environment Dr. Mohammed Mahmood Abubakar is providing purposeful leadership by way of necessary infrastructure to support Sanitation and also improve accessibility to less vulnerable to access toilet facilities in Nigeria.

He therefore noted that the Honorable Minister has been providing huge investment on sanitation and particularly toilet facilities more especially in public places where the issues of open defecation is prevalent or has become a norm.
