Minister of Power Receives Award of Excellence

The Honourable Minister of Power, Engr. Abubakar D. Aliyu was bestowed with an Award of Excellence as, an ICON of diligence service and capacity builder in the Power Sector.

He received the award from the National Council for Civil Society Organisation, NACCSO in his Office, recently.
The Minister, in receiving the award said he was “highly delighted to receive the organization and more happy to receive the recognition (Award)…which has opened a window for more interaction, cooperation and to synergize on how to move the Power Sector forward.
Aliyu seized the opportunity of their visit to urged them to be proactive and patriotic in handling the affairs as regards to sensitising the public on the dangers inherent in vandalising Power Projects, especially in the Northeast Zone, stating the Ministry’s mandate is to formulate policies and offer directives on the Power reforms by way of oversighting the Agencies, noting that the industry is partly privatised, into Generation, Distribution and Transmission Sub-Sectors that must interface among themselves, with the Ministry as the leader.
The Honourable Minister disclosed that the Power Sector is enjoying Government interventions in the administration of President Muhammudu Buhari than previous administrations.
The Leader of the National Council for Civil Society, Comrade Tope Lamidi congratulated the Minister for his new appointment, stating that they prayed for a Minister who would take ownership of the infrastructure, especially Power Sector, to carry stakeholders along.
He said the award is well deserving, describing the Minister as an ICON of diligence service and capacity builder in the Power Sector.
The National President said the organisation has the mandate of creating awareness about vandalisation of Power Projects in the North East, stating that they are stakeholders in the Power Sector, and would like to partner with the Ministry to find a common ground to give Nigerians the deserved constant,
affordable and efficient electricity supply.
