NDDC abandoned 10 projects at Ibeno LGA, Akwa-Ibom State

The Honourable Minister, Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio, has reiterated his determination to recover funds paid to contractors on all abandoned projects by the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).

He made this assertion on Saturday, 18th January, 2020, when he paid a courtesy call at the Palace of the Paramount Ruler of lbeno Local Government Area, Akwa lbom State, His Royal Highness Owong (Dr.) Effiong Bassey Archianga (JP).

He assured the Ruler that the forensic audit of the NDDC as directed by President Muhammadu Buhari, would expose all contractors who received payments and abandoned the jobs, saying the contractors will either return to site to complete their jobs or pay back the monies received.

In his remarks, Dr. Effiong Bassey Archianga, commended the vision and efforts of Senator Akpabio, in trying to streamline procedures and operations in the NDDC.

He appreciated the Minister for providing the land for siting the project at lbeno and pleaded for its speedy completion. Adding that he and the communities would be exceedingly glad to have President Buhari commission it.

According to the Ruler, NDDC abandoned projects at lbeno Local Government Area include: The construction of lwuoachang -Eastern Obolo Road; Itak Abasi/Okoritak Communities Shoreline protection/Embankment; Upenekang/lwuoachang Shoreline protection/ embankment; Ibeno Mini Stadium Ibeno Civic Center; Ibeno Standard Divisional Police Headauarters; Orukim/Unyenge/ltioesek Road;

Mounting of Transformers and electrification of lbeno Villages; Inua Eyet lkot/ltak ldim Ukpa/Okposo Road; Ikot Ekong/lbeno Road; Channelization of creeks in lbeno Communities.
