Ndiomu meets NITDA DG, seeks employment for Amnesty Delegates

The Interim Administrator PAP, Maj. Gen. Barry Tariye Ndiomu (rtd) paid a courtesy visit to the Director General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) Mallam Kashifu Inuwa at his office in Abuja recently.

The visit was an opportunity for the PAP Boss to solicit employment opportunities in NITDA for qualified PAP delegates and also to see if they can benefit from other ICT programmes that the organization have.

Ndiomu while speaking said, “ICT is an enabler in any industry, and we are looking at ways in which we can partner with NITDA to enhance the employability and entrepreneurial capacities of our delegates. We are eager to forge a partnership on how to build the capacity of these young ones and to also ensure that in building capacity for them, they become self-employed”.

The Interim Administrator had earlier stated that the government wanted to wind down the programme but rescinded the decision because the aim for which it was created in 2009 by late President Umaru Musa Yar’adua had not been achieved. He further stated that the ex-agitators having gone through the disarmament and demobilization phase are now in the reintegration phase of the programme.

Mallam Inuwa responding, thanked the Interim Administrator for his visit and promised to support the IA’s employment drive for the Amnesty delegates. He also promised that the NITDA will work to come up with a tailor-made capacity-building program for the ex-agitators.

He further stated they are focusing on the digital skills that can enable the participants leverage on the digital world and build on entrepreneurship skills as well as to build digital capacity so that they can access digital jobs. He said the train the trainer approach should be adopted by the PAP team so that they can continue that rippling effect training within the community.
