The Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs, Belema Wakama has assured various bidders for the Ministry’s 2016 capital projects of fairness, openness and accountability in the bidding process.

The Permanent Secretary, who was represented by the Director Reforms Coordination in the Ministry, Aisha A. Rufai at the opening of bids exercise on Wednesday July 20, 2016 said that due process would be followed in the evaluation of all the bids, assuring that all bidders found worthy will be recommended and awarded the respective contracts accordingly.

While declaring the exercise open, Wakama regretted that the Terms of Reference (TOR) for some Lots were not ready for issuance to bidders, adding that bids for the affected Lots would be handled later.

In order to ensure due process and transparency in the procurement exercise, the Permanent Secretary reminded the gathering that the Ministry published advertisement in the Federal Tenders Journal, Daily Trust and Thisday Newspapers on June 13, 2016 inviting contractors, consultants and service providers, to bid for various projects in the 2016 Appropriation.

She further disclosed that the Ministry issued an addendum, correcting some omissions on July 7, 2016 by which the bids closing date was extended to July 20, 2016. She said that some Lots were stepped down in the addendum.

The Permanent Secretary called for the support and cooperation of all Bidders to make the bids opening process a success.
