Nigeria Will Retain Her Pride of Place in the World’s List of Top LNG Suppliers – Timipre Sylva

The Honorable Minister of State, Petroleum Resources, Chief Timipre Sylva has said Nigeria will retain her pride of place among world list of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) suppliers. The Minister made the remark at an event on Wednesday, 13th May, 2020.

The event was held in the wake of the signing of the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract of Nigeria LNG Train 7 project. Chief Sylva described the signing of the EPC contracts as historic giving its significance and importance to Nigeria. With the signing of the EPC contracts, it is expected that the construction phase of Train 7 should commence forthwith.

Speaking further, the Minister said the Train 7 project will enhance the NLNG’s drive at deepening its Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) stimulation efforts with its attendant benefit to Nigerians, adding that more revenue will accrue to the nation’s coffers through taxes, dividends and levies.

The Minister commended the Shareholders of NLNG for their zeal and doggedness which resulted in the signing of the EPC contracts especially at a time when the country is grappling with the COVID-19 pandemic. He solicited the involvement and support of all well-meaning Nigerians at ensuring a successful delivery of the Train 7 project.

He assured the management and staff of Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) of the continued support of the Ministry of Petroleum Resources and indeed that of the Government of President Muhammadu Buhari
