The Honorable Minister of Health, Dr. Osagie Ehanire  has conveyed the approval of President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR to Dr. Joseph Ugboaja who has been appointed as the Chief Medical Director of Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital (NAUTH) Nnewi, Anambra State for an initial term of four (4) years with effect from 10th August, 2021.

While conveying the President’s approval, Dr. Ehanire charged the appointee to “work hard to ensure that the hospital continues to provide quality health care” and “endeavour to improve on the present achievements and leave your mark of progress on the Institution.”  

The Minister further reminded him of the heavy responsibility of the office and the yearnings of Nigerians for an effective and responsible health care delivery system. He reiterated the need for the newly appointed CMD to justify the confidence reposed in him by this appointment and work with all stakeholders for industrial peace and harmony in support of Mr. President’s change Agenda for the next level.

Dr. Ugboaja who expressed sincere appreciation to Mr. President and the Ministry of Health,  pledged to uphold the trust bestowed on him by working hard to leave a legacy that he would be remembered for.
 
Prior to his appointment, Dr. Ugboaja served as the acting CMD of the hospital; the immediate past Chairman, Medical Advisory Committee (CMAC) NAUTH; Director Clinical Services Research and Training as well as Chairman Taskforce on COVID-19 NAUTH.
