The Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals (OSSAP-SDGs) has, in collaboration with the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation established Employee Wellness Centre to cater for the civil servants.
At the commissioning of the Wellness Centre, which was attended by many permanent secretaries at phase 2 of the Federal Secretariat recently, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals Princess Adejoke Orelope Adefulire, represented by the Director administration Mrs, Ukaejiofo, described the Centre as lofty one, meant to promote good health in line with goal 3 of SDGs, noting that “it will increase civil servants’ productivity and protect cognitive decline” as she implored the facilities be managed for optimum utilization.
In her address, the Head of Service of the Federation, Dr. Folasade Yemi-Esan described the Centre as a dream come true. She stated that in the civil service there are a lot of health related complaints, ailments and sudden deaths, while many civil servants are unaware of their health status, just as many also die immediately after retirement. She noted that this calls for establishment of the employee wellness Centre to be manned by health experts for employee to access and deal with these issues.
Dr. Folasade reaffirmed the government of President Muhammadu Buhari’s commitment to the welfare of the civil servants, just as she admonished the permanent secretaries to replicate such gesture in their respective Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs); and ensure that the welfare of the civil servants are brought to the optimum level.
She thanked the Senior Special Assistant to the President on SDGs Princess Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire for providing support and facilities to the center, in line with goal 3 of the SDGs. She promised to ensure the facilities are put to optimum use and sustained.
In their goodwill messages, the Permanent Secretaries of the Ministry of Health Mamuda Mamman, FCT, Olusade olusola and others present, lauded the Head of Service for the initiative.
