Permanent Secretary meets with Resident Information Officers

The Permanent Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Information & Culture, Dcns. Grace Isu Gekpe has on Thursday 4th of October 2018 met with all Resident Information officers in MDAs on a familiarity gathering.

Speaking at the meeting, she stated that the purpose was to enable her interact with them, hear their challenges and forge a way forward to ensuring that the mandate of the ministry is achieved.

“The role of any Information Officer is to strategically communicate government policies which must be put out timely, accurately and effectively and posted on the FGN iApp, www.fmic.gov.ng and www.nigeria.gov.ng websites . This is important as citizens must be aware of all federal government policies and programmes,” she said.

She called on all Resident Information Officers to add value to their offices, cooperate with one another and work as a team, but above all senior officers must mentor the younger ones for effective delivery of work. She later frowned at officers who reject postings, saying this will no more be tolerated.

On her part, the Director of Public Communication & National Orientation, Mrs Ihuoma called on all officers to be diligent in their duty, make use of the little resources available to them and above all, they must ensure that they improve themselves and operate optimally with their Ministers and Permanent Secretaries even where there are Special Assistants on Media engaged.
