Physically challenged to benefit from National Housing Programme -Fashola

ABUJA (PWH Ministry’ Report)- The Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, has assured physically challenged Nigerians that the National Housing Program was an all inclusive program that will benefit Nigerians irrespective of their status and class, adding that they were captured to give everyone a sense of belonging and opportunity to home ownership. He said that it was part of Buhari’s led administration initiatives to cater for all Nigerians.

The Minister disclosed this at the town hall meeting organized to mark the Second Year Anniversary of President Buhari’s Administration, held at the Rotunda Conference Hall of the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Abuja recently.

Fashola said that the National Building Code is undergoing a radical transformation which will change the way building was constructed in the built environment to ensure that they conform to international best practices.

The Minister, while giving his midterm report on the performance of the Ministry of Power, Works and Housing under his supervision, said the housing sector has undertaken inspection and monitoring of various housing sites across country. He said with the massive on-going construction works at sites, government has been able to provide employment opportunities for artisans and other professionals in the built environment.

According to Fashola, 13,680 direct and 41,040 indirect jobs have so far been created. He therefore expressed optimism that the program will facilitate government’s Economic Recovery Plan launched by President Buhari recently.

The Minister further explained that contrary to  scepticism expressed by some Nigerians about the sincerity of’ government’s plan of providing housing for the citizens, he explained that the Federal Government is passionate about the housing needs of the citizens and would therefore continue drive it.
