The Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution has expressed concern over the delay in the process of Poetry and Short Story Competition on Peacebuilding for Secondary Schools in Nigeria.

The Project Desk Officer of the Programme, Mr. Andy Nkemneme  Said that the slowdown of the process was due to logistics and COVID-19 protocols.

He said,  “in June 2019 the Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution announced Poetry and Short Story Competition on Peace Building for Secondary Schools in Nigeria and called for entries which were received”.

This was expected to produce winners, poetry and short story books and culminate into a youths conference on Youths Peace and Security by early 2020. Unfortunately, COVID 19 came with all its protocols and lock down. This with so many other logistics issues slowed the processes”.

The Institute therefore wishes to inform the general public, especially those who sent in entries that it’s still working on the project and in no sooner a time would come out with the winners, books and the conference.

“We plead with everybody to bear with us”, he added.
