President Buhari presents 2023 budget to National Assembly

The president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari today Friday October 7, 2022 presented a budget of 20.5 Trillion Naira appropriation bill to the joint session of National Assembly.

President Muhammadu Buhari during his presentation said the 2023 budget was designed to address critical issues and also laid a good foundation for the next administration.

President Buhari commends the working relationship with the National Assembly in the past years which he said has resulted in the accomplishment of far reaching goals set by the government.

The budget shows that 744.11Billion Naira was budgeted for statutory transfers, 1.1Trillion Naira for overhead costs, and 5.35trillion naira for capital expenditure and 8.27 Trillion Naira for non-recurrent costs.

The Senate president, Ahmad lawan in his welcome address at the budget presentation urged the Executive to make sure that the 2023 budget of fiscal stability and transition is used to complete a lot of ongoing projects across the country.

The speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila while giving the closing remarks at the budget presentation said the National Assembly is ready to exercise the full authority of parliament on those who fail to provide the records needed to make informed decisions on Appropriation Bill.
