Reliable Data on the Exploitation of Underground Water will reduce problem of Water Pollution – Water Minister

ABUJA (Water Resources Ministry’ Report) The Honourable Minister of Water Resources, Engr. Suleiman H. Adamu, FNSE has described as worrisome the lack of reliable data on the exploitation of underground water by individuals as well as various arms of government.

The Minister made this remarks on Thursday 6th July 2017 in Abuja when members of the Nigeria Association of Hydro geologists (NAH) paid him a courtesy visit.

He said that when the National Water Resources Bill is passed into law, the Ministry will be in a position to enforce and regulate the indiscriminate exploitation of underground water and preserve the resources for future generations.

Earlier In his opening address, the President of the Association and the Executive Director, Planning; Benin – Owena River Basin Development Authority, Mr. E.I.C Olumese (FNAH) appealed to the Honourable Minister to put in place policies that would check the indiscriminate drilling of boreholes in the country.

The Honourable Minister, Engr. Suleiman H. Adamu, FNSE is the Grand Patron of the Association. He was conferred with another award of Fellow of the Nigeria Association of Hydro geologists (FNAH) in recognition of his passion and drive in reforming the water sector.
