Summary of Plenary proceedings of the House of Representatives for Tuesday, March 29th, 2022

ANNOUNCEMENTS–COMMUNICATION FROM THE PRESIDENT:

  1. National Senior Secondary School Commission Bill 2021 for consideration and passage by the House of Representatives. The Bill is for the proper administration of Senior Secondary School education in Nigeria.

MATTERS OF URGENT PUBLIC IMPORTANCE 

1.Rep. Nnoli Nnaji moved a motion on the urgent need for the Federal government to investigate the recent attack on the Kaduna International Airport and reinforce the security apparatus of the airport for the safety and security of Nigerian travelers, the motion was voted on and adopted as amended. The House Committees to work alongside the leadership of the House include Aviation, Railway, Airforce, Defense and Land Transport.

1.A Bill for an Act to Provide for Establishment of Federal University of Agriculture, Mpu, Enugu State; and for Related Matters (HB.1898) (Senate) – Second Reading The Bill was voted on, approved for second reading and referred to the House Committee on Health institutions.

2.A Bill for an Act to Provide the Legal Framework to Establish Federal Medical Centre, Ufuma, Anambra State; and for Related Matters (HB.1373) (Rep. Okwudili C. Ezenwankwo) – Second Reading. The Bill was voted on, approved for second reading and referred to the House Committee on Health institutions.

3.A Bill for an Act to Establish Environmental Research Council of Nigeria and Provide for Establishment of Research Institute by the Council; and for Related Matters (HB.1869) (Rep. Shehu Ahmed) – Second Reading. The Bill was voted on, approved for second reading and referred to the House Committee on Science Research Institute.

4.A Bill for an Act to Provide for Establishment of Sa’adu Zungur College of Dental Technology and Therapy, Zungur, Bauchi State; and for Related Matters (HB. 1740) (Rep. Yakubu Shehu Abdullahi) – Second Reading. The Bill was voted on, approved for second reading and referred to the House Committee on Health institutions.

5.A Bill for an Act to Provide for Establishment of Federal College of Nursing and Midwifery, Nteje, Anambra State and; for Related Matters (HB. 1730) (Rep. Vincent Ofumelu) – Second Reading. The Bill was voted on, approved for second reading and referred to the House Committee on Health institutions.
