Supreme Court Appoints Apata, Rhodes-Vivour, 36 Others as SAN

ABUJA (Min of Justice Report) – The Solicitor General of the Federation and Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Justice, Dayo Apata, the wife of Supreme Court Justice, Mrs. Adedoyin Rhodes-Vivour, Lagos – based human rights activist Lawyer, Mr. Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa and 35 others, have been admitted into the prestigious rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN).

The Chief Registrar of Supreme Court and Legal Practitioners’ Privileges Committee (LPPC), Hadizatu Mustapha, revealed that a total of 38 lawyers were elevated by the LPPC at the Committee’s 138th plenary session, held on Thursday, 11th July, 2019.

They were admitted into the rank recently by the head of the Legal Practitioners Privileges Committee (LPPC), the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Ibrahim Tanko, after it found them worthy in conduct, character and performance in the legal profession.

According to her, the successful candidates were selected from 117 applications for the rank and they would be sworn in at the ceremony marking the upcoming 2019/2020 legal year of the apex court, holding in September 2019.

Those also conferred with the title include, Abdullahi Haruna, Manga Nuruddeen, John Asoluka, Adedokun Oyebanji, Tuduru Ede, Abdul Ajana, Ama Nylander, Olusegun Fowowe and Andrew Hutton.
Others include; Olukayode Enitan, Paul Ogbole, Olaniyi OIopade, Samuel Agweh, Olusegun Jolaawo, Prof. Alphonsus Alubo, Ayo Asala, Abiodun Olatunji, Olkumnide Aju, Chimezie Ihekweazu, Prof.. Mamman Lawan, Prof. Uchefula Chukwumaeze, Usman Sule, Safyiya Badamasi,and Echezona Etiaba, Godwin Omoaka and Emeka Ozoani among others.
