SYLVA RESTATES COMMITMENT TO IMPROVE STAFF WELFARE

The Honourable Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, His Excellency, Chief Timipre Slyva has pointed out that the Ministry of Petroleum Resources is at the core of the economy of Nigeria, as such, her members of Staff should be well compensated and remunerated.

The Minister made this disclosure today 16th June, 2022 in Abuja on the occasion of the commemoration of Year 2022 Civil Service Day and Award Ceremony organized to reward the outstanding and committed staff who dedicated themselves dutifully to their assigned responsibilities.

In his goodwill message, Chief Sylva noted that the Management and Staff Ministry contributed immensely to the successes he recorded in realizing or achieving his entire mandates as the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources.

The Minister used the opportunity to thank all members of staff for the wonderful supports he has been receiving since he assumed duty as the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources and equally expressed his optimism that more landmark achievements will still be recorded before the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari comes to an end.

The Director Overseeing the Office of the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum Resources, Engr. Kamoru Oladimiji Busari in his address stated that it is worthy of mention that no meaningful development can take place in any nation without the input from the Civil Servants. Government policies he said can only be translated to tangible development when there is a vibrant Civil Service to implement the policies for good governance.

He encouraged the staff to always put in their best in all they do to ensure that they achieve the Civil Service of our dream as the country is in dire need of their services as well as compete with their peers across the globe.

Earlier in her welcome remarks, the Director of Human Resources Management, Mrs. Otu Bassey Fumilayo Olarenwaju noted that the Public/Civil Service Day is an annual event that rewards and recognizes outstanding and committed staff in all the MDAs. The ceremony she noted comes in different phases such as Rewarding for Outstanding Staff and Presidential Merit Awardees.

Other programmes lined up to mark the event is the Civil Service lecture with the Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Dr. Folashade Yemi – Esan at the Public Service Institute of Nigeria, Kubwa, Abuja.

Highlights of the event are the presentation of Departmental Commendation Letters to deserving officers, presentation of Outstanding Awards, Thank You Awards to the members of the Committee, and Presidential Merit Awards to some members of staff, Heads of Units, and Directors in the Ministry. The Honourable Minister was also awarded in recognition of his Excellent Leadership in the Oil and Gas Sector.
