Youth and Sports Minister Receives the UK International Award For Young People.

The Honourable Minister, Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, Mr. Sunday Dare, has commended the UK International Award Organisation, for extending their hands of friendship towards development of Youths in Nigeria using the UK Foundation.

While addressing the Delegation from the International Award for Young People Team in his office at Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja, recently, he stated that recognizing Nigeria amongst the 130 countries to participate in the Award is a welcome gesture by the Duke of Edinburgh.

The Minister further disclosed to them that Nigeria is a fertile country with 200 million people and 65 million youth, readily available to be empowered through positive training and digital skills.

He revealed that other organizations were showing interest in partnering with the Ministry within and outside the country which would also help scale up the youths in the area of training and digital skills. He said since he came into office, there had been a deliberate effort to partner with many foundations so that young people could take advantage of the process to excel in their areas of endeavor.

The President of the team, Mr Akinyode Abiodun, Corporate Manager of the NGO, who spoke earlier, opined that 4th-6th February, 2020, had been slated to hold the Award at the Government Secondary School Lugbe, in Abuja and would also be conducted in some other States in Nigeria.

Mallam Sambo, a board member stated that three levels of Award were in place, exhibition and display of what they had been able to achieve during the adventurous period, would be examined, stating further, that things were best learnt outside the college environment.
