Railway Concessions: FG awards narrow gauge lines, associated infrastructure to General Electric

ABUJA (Transport Ministry’ Report)- The Federal Government has issued a letter of award as the preferred Bidder for the concessioning of the Narrow Gauge Lines and Associated Infrastructure to General Electric (GE).

The Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, represented by the Permanent Secretary, Sabiu Zakari made this known while presenting the letter of award to Ms. Jamie Miller, the President & CEO, GE Transportation who was in his office on Wednesday May 24, 2017.

The Minister stated that the Federal Executive Council, (FEC) recently approved the Outline Business Case (OBC) which will lead to the final consummation of the Concessioning of the Narrow Gauge lines.

Rotimi Amaechi assured that the Federal Government is fully committed to the success of this project due to the greater impact it will have on Nigeria’s economy.

Responding, the President and CEO of GE Transportation, Ms. Jamie Miller, assured of the determination of her Company to complete the Project in good time adding that the Company is ready to partner with the Federal Government to complete the project on schedule.
