2005 July 26: In Southwestern region, a ferryboat carried passengers between remote villages sank, and killed at least eighteen (18) people.

2007 July 26: Court sentenced former Bayelsa State Governor, Dieprieye Alamieyeseigha to two years in jail on charges of corruption and money laundering and ordered him to forfeit millions in property and cash.

2008 July 26: In Niger Delta, unidentified men in a speed boat seized eight foreign oil workers at gunpoint, and they were released later the same day.

2010 July 26: The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) seized nearly half a ton of cocaine and arrested two Chinese nationals and a Nigerian in connection with the seizure. The shipment originated from Chile and passed through Peru, Bolivia and Antwerp in Belgium before being shipped to Nigeria.
